29 September 2022

On World Heart Day, YADUNA organized a free medical day to raise awareness on the Importance of preventing cardiovascular disease and reducing stress in our daily lives with the participation of 31 women from different organizations namely: Orthodox Dispensary Wadi Chahrour, Lions Furn El Chebak, Social Development Center Baabdat, Caritas Hadath and 5 Social workers interns from the Lebanese University.

Many activities were carried it on that day including measuring blood pressure, testing lipid panel to control blood cholesterol and triglycerides levels, conducting a body composition analysis along with some heart-healthy nutritional tips and carrying out a Q&A session with one of our cardiologists.

At the end of the day, some recreational activities were held as well: A mindfulness session was conducted by Mr. David Matta and a stretching session was guided by Mr. Paul Saade.

It is important to mention that, according to the WHO, cardiovascular disease is considered the number one killer in women and contributes to 47% of all deaths related to non-communicable diseases in Lebanon (WHO, 2016).
