‘How Big is Your Heart’ Yaduna-WHHC Fundraising Celebrates the Energy, Passion and Power,  Women have to Fight Heart Diseases

March 16, 2016 : For the third year in a row, Yaduna Foundation organized its gala dinner to raise funds in support of women heart diseases awareness, research, education and community activities. With a guest list of more than 500 contributors, the event managed to raise enough contributions all of which will be donated to the Women Heart Health Center to improve women’s cardiovascular health and reduce burden of disease through prevention, screening, primary treatment and advocacy.

Ladies in red graced the event entitled “How Big is Your Heart” to celebrate Yaduna’s third year while honoring the generous support of donors who significantly contributed to influence and fund research, screening, education and advocacy for women heart health on a local and national level.

“Yaduna and the Women Heart Health Center screened last year more than 1060 women and saved around 100 women from an acute heart event and we couldn’t have done it without the support and donations of our great friends and partners; we sincerely appreciate your commitment”, said Mrs. Wafaa Sleiman, President of Yaduna. “Improving women’s heart health can improve the health of families and the broader community. As the country moves from a focus on sick care and disease to wellness and prevention, decreasing heart disease morbidity and mortality and ensuring that women with heart disease can thrive is critical and is within our reach”.

The fundraising event, moderated by Wissam Breidy and animated by Sami El Hajj dancers, brought together leaders in the field of women’s cardiovascular disease, patient advocates, influencers and media members dedicated on the national front to eradicate heart disease as the leading cause of death in women.

It is worth mentioning that the cardiovascular diseases are the number one cause of death among women in the world. In fact, 56% of deaths among women are due to cardiovascular diseases while 64% of them did not appear to have any symptoms. Preventive examinations are crucial for women above the age of 45 and can be done at the Women’s Heart Health Centre in collaboration with eminent cardiologists from the AUBMC & USJ-FM regardless of their social background as the center is run by Yaduna, a not-for-profit foundation.
