A. Job Summary

The Communication Executive oversees day-to-day Marketing, Public Relations and Fundraising operations of Yaduna –WHHC to ensure that the organization is getting the best media exposure in an effective way. S/he contributes to the development of the communication department of the organization and work on building in-house marketing skills.

The Communication Executive reports to the CEO and liaises between the Advertising Partner and the Board of Directors. S/He formulates the total marketing budget in collaboration with the Advertising Partner for review and approval by CEO and BOD and contribute to the implementation of the communication strategy on the ground.

The Communication Executive will work closely with the Advertising Partner, Media Channels, CEO, and the Board of Directors in developing the yearly communication strategy (Marketing, PR and Fundraising) of the institution.

B. Responsibilities & duties

  1. Contribute to the development of the communication department strategy (3 main pillars: Marketing, PR and Fundraising)
  2. Ensure proper implementation of the communication strategy on the ground (time, budget, etc.)
  3. Provide recommendations and solutions to improve the overall communication
  4. Prepare the communication department yearly schedule
  5. Prepare a yearly schedule of local and international events related to the Health sector
  6. Organize participation in local and international events (exhibitions, fairs…)
  7. Develop draft advertising texts and layouts and present to BOD for review and approval. Keep all printed and electronic material up-to-date (WHHC presentation, Fundraising Letters, Flyers, etc.)
  8. Update website on a regular basis (content, pictures, etc.)
  9. Daily follow-up on the institution’s social media outlets and coordination of posts between Doctors, Social Worker, Dietitian and Advertising Partner
  10. Maintain a good relationship with the press (TV, websites, etc.) and keep track of all programs and shows related to NGOs and the Health sector
  11. Maintain a good relationship with influencers to promote the Center and the medical cause
  12. Keep the institution’s PR database up-to-date
  13. Arrange for interviews and appearance in media (in addition to the efforts of the Advertising Partner)
  14. Follow-up with designers, printing houses and production houses
  15. Proactive coordination of all newsletters and related issues: corporate gifts, greeting cards, etc.
  16. Follow-up on the institution’s articles in magazines and listings in the press
  17. Organize annual internal gatherings for the institution
  18. Ensure internal communication by keeping the team well-informed of changes or events within the organization
  19. Propose and establish contacts with potential local and international partners
  20. Propose a yearly Fundraising plan for review and approval by BOD
  21. Ensure proper implementation of the yearly approved Fundraising plan
  22. End-of-year audit report for the Advertising Partner’s activities

C. Qualifications

  • Required: Masters Degree in Marketing, Business, Journalism or a related field. Minimum 5 years experience in a communication department or in communication related fields (Public Relations, Marketing, Press Relations, etc.).
  • Preferred: Previous NGO experience

  • Proven communication and presentation skills (written and oral)
  • Excellent eye for details when carrying out publications and events organization projects
  • Good technical skills (graphic design and printing minimal knowledge, Photoshop and database related programs, website maintenance, social media management, etc.)
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel (Latin and Arabic typing)
  • Hands-on knowledge in the event organization business
  • Organization and project management skills: comfortable in project planning and execution
  • Good relationship with Media
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate within all levels of the business including Senior Management, Information Technology, and Finance is required

  • Broad understanding of healthcare issues

D. Language/literacy requirements

  • Spoken and written languages: fluent in Arabic, English and French
